Biological matter (meaning germs or bacteria) is not always able to be seen by the naked eye
Therefore, "cleanliness" cannot always be determined by visual inspection alone.
ATP is a substance excreted by all living or once-living organisms, therefore its' presence is indicative of biological matter or bacteria which may be contagious, being on the surface tested.
ATP testing is a process to evaluate the effectiveness of cleaning by measuring amounts of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) on surfaces.
This is done by "swabbing" a particular area, typically high touch points. We use a luminometer to measure the amounts of ATP detected in RLUs (relative light units).
The amounts of ATP present on a surface after cleaning will be indicative of the effectiveness of the cleaning process and need for re-cleaning/disinfection. Our staff of Infection Preventionists and Epidemiologists and certified technicians utilize Swab testing to measure the levels prior to and after disinfection to validate our services.
Swab testing is an inexpensive way to measure, prevent and monitor the effectiveness of your cleaning and disinfection process.
Results are immediate. Why is this important? You need to know that your processes are working. Testing can be done daily, weekly or monthly based on each individual clients needs.
